By authorising this action, will my credit rating be affected?
No.
If I sign the Mandate authorising PFR to claim these fines does this give PFR any authority to access my account?
No, not at all. It only allows us the authority to deal direct with the bank/building society in order that we can act on your behalf.
Is it likely that the bank/building society will close my account if you recover the money?
It is highly unlikely this would occur, however the prudent action is to make sure that you do have a separate account as well, just in case.
What do you charge for this service?
We work on the basis of no recovery, no cost. We will pursue the bank for the recovery of your penalty charges and interest charges and at the end of the day when we are successful, we charge 25% of the amount recovered. In real terms this will be mainly the interest recovered over and above the penalty charges.
What actions do you take on our behalf?
We attempt to come to an amicable conclusion with the bank/building society on recovering all your fines and if not, we will take the necessary legal action and issue a Summons in Court.
If that happens will I have to go to Court?
It is extremely unlikely that you will ever be required to go to Court, but there is the possibility that this could occur and if this does, we will provide the proper representation to act on your behalf at that time.
